Description:
IGii is seeking a Senior Development Scientist to join their Advanced Materials team. The team consists of 4 experienced scientists and engineers, working across a wide R&D remit. This role offers the opportunity to engage deeply with Gii, a 3D carbon nanostructure with extraordinary properties. As part of the development team, the Senior Development Scientist will contribute to advancing technologies related to energy, catalysis, sensors, and assays.
Key Responsibilities:
Advanced Materials Development: Develop new processes, refine existing ones, and optimize material development to create new forms of Gii.
Project Management: Manage complex projects, collaborating with multiple departments to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
Subject Matter Expertise: Stay up-to-date with recent developments and literature in the field of advanced materials to generate new ideas and aid in the evaluation of materials.
Data Analysis: Utilize relevant tools for data management and analysis, including Python scripts.
Characterisation and Testing: Characterize and test materials using advanced techniques such as Raman Spectroscopy, SEM, and XPS, providing technical insight into material properties.
Experimental Planning: Design and execute experiments, including the fabrication of devices and electrochemical testing for proof-of-concept stages.
Reporting: Produce detailed technical reports, including weekly updates, quarterly summaries, and handover reports. Document critical experimental observations.
Other Responsibilities: Travel for testing, training, or conferences as needed, and protect intellectual property by adhering to guidelines.
Key Requirements:
Education: Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physical Sciences, Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Equivalent relevant work experience is also considered.
Experience: No less than 2 years delivering projects in carbon nanomaterials and new product development, preferably in sensor development, energy storage, or catalysis.
Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with advanced characterisation tools such as Raman Spectroscopy, SEM, XPS, XRD, and electrochemical analysis (e.g., CV, EIS).
R&D Experience: Proven experience in scaling up materials or processes, Design of Experiments (DoE), and method optimization.
Data Analysis Skills: Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, R, or equivalent platforms for data interpretation and statistical analysis.
Project Management: Proven ability to lead or coordinate R&D projects from concept to execution.
Communication: Strong written and verbal skills, including the ability to present complex data to both technical and non-technical audiences.
What We Offer:
Full-time position with 37.5 hours per week
Competitive salary with a focus on growth and development
33 days of annual leave, life insurance, income protection, and training opportunities
Flexible working hours and the possibility of alternative working arrangements
A collaborative and social company culture with regular team meetings and milestone recognitions
Application Process:
Stage 1: Introductory remote discussion with the hiring managers (45 minutes)
Stage 2: In-office interview at iGii’s Stirling location, with a tour of lab spaces and competency-based questioning
Interviews Expected: Starting mid-May 2025, with onboarding aimed for early Q3 2025
