Arm are looking for a Senior Storage Operations Engineer who will be responsible for deployment, development and improvement for on-prem & cloud storage services within a hybrid multi-cloud environment including AWS, GCP & Azure supporting HPC workloads.

Working closely with team leads and project managers across Global Infrastructure & Platforms, you will be a key contributor in developing, advancing and improving data storage services in the cloud.

Responsibilities

You will focus on the monitoring and operational support of the global storage infrastructure. Provisioning data storage within arm on-prem and cloud storage environment. Implementation, maintenance, data migration, and lifecycles of NAS and object based data storage services, which underpin the Arm engineering EDA workflows in our HPC environments and cloud Hyperscalers.   • Provide operational support for data storage and data protection technologies from NetApp within the Cloud Hyperscalers
  • Work independently on routine, sophisticated incidents and requests, ensuring that they are handled according to agreed Arm procedures & SLAs based around the ITIL framework.
  • Supporting operations - Respond to Requests and Incidents in a timely and efficient manner while adhering to policies and procedures. Participate in the On-Call rota.
  • Supporting the platform – Working to support the Storage Platform by ensuring alignment across key delivery functions, global coverage for deployment and operations, including maintenance windows.
  • Problem resolution - Resolves problems by identifying and selecting solutions within scope of experience and is expected to handle conflicting priorities.
  • Project delivery - Deliver project work on schedule and at the highest quality possible.
  • Build clear and concise documentation, share information and train team members and other colleagues to improve first time fix rate.
  • Supervise the data storage infrastructure & take a proactive approach to identifying potential problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks & inefficiencies, and work towards addressing these issues, through automation and process optimisation.
  • Work closely with a global team of Storage Engineers and the Storage Manager to deliver a high quality service and ensure strategic objectives and goals are achieved.
  • Working with teams - Work across technical teams to facilitate delivery of the Storage Platform aligned to key principles and strategy of Infrastructure team.
     

Required Skills And Experience
 

  • Experience with NAS Storage File protocols - NFS and unstructured data systems.
  • IT Infrastructure experience.
  • Good interpersonal and time-management skills, together with the ability to prioritise and to meet deadlines.
  • Pro-active and pragmatic with regards to problem solving.
  • A technical background and a desire to learn new skills and technologies.
     

"Nice to have" skills & experience
 

  • Experience with NetApp data ONTAP administration, on-prem and cloud!
  • Relevant professional certifications such as NetApp Certified Hybrid Cloud Administrator, NetApp Certified Data Administrator or AWS Solution Architect etc.
  • AWS/GCP Cloud Operations, including FSxNetApp (FSxN) services and NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO).
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following storage technologies would be desirable Dell OneFS, Rubrik CDM, HPC, Object storage.
  • Strong understanding of Infrastructure services Networking and solving (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN).
  • Linux System administration experience, familiarity with RHEL, Ubuntu or CentOS.
  • Conceptual knowledge of virtualisation and container technologies (VMware, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Automation and DevOps fundamentals with Terraform, Ansible, Python, Linux shell scripting.
  • Networking fundamentals (Cisco, Arista)
  • Cloud fundamentals (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Understanding of ITIL framework
