Description:
SSEN Transmission is looking for a highly capable and experienced Site Construction Manager to lead the construction phase of one of their ASTI HVDC Underground Cables Packages in Scotland. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all construction activities meet stringent safety, quality, and environmental standards while adhering to project timelines and budgets.
The successful candidate will act as the primary onsite representative of SSEN Transmission, managing relationships with contractors and stakeholders and driving operational excellence. This permanent full-time position demands presence on-site five days a week during the active construction phase.
Serve as the key onsite contact representing SSEN Transmission, coordinating closely with contractors and stakeholders.
Ensure that all site operations comply fully with legal, statutory, health and safety regulations, including the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015).
Collaborate with appointed contractors and operations teams to deliver works according to project programs, maintaining safety and environmental responsibility.
Monitor site compliance with planning consents, SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) legislation, and maintain comprehensive reporting and oversight against project KPIs.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with contractors, suppliers, and local communities, promoting and championing a positive safety culture on site.
Lead quality assurance activities including inspection and testing in line with project requirements.
Coordinate multiple contractors and subcontractors to ensure adherence to timelines, budget, and quality standards.
Manage traffic controls, excavation, trench reinstatement, and supervise trenchless construction solutions as applicable.
Demonstrable experience in on-site management or supervision within construction, maintenance, or highways projects.
Deep understanding of health, safety, and CDM 2015 regulations, preferably within a utility environment.
Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple contractors and subcontractors effectively.
Previous experience with quality monitoring through inspection and testing plans.
Knowledge of utility industry construction, including traffic management, excavation, trench reinstatement, and trenchless solutions.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and challenge appropriately.
Strong conflict resolution and site activity planning abilities.
Full current driving license essential due to travel and on-site requirements.
