Description:
We are seeking two outstanding string teachers to join the Music Department at Christ Church Cathedral School (CCCS), following the retirement of our excellent upper and lower strings teachers at the end of the summer term.
String playing is thriving at CCCS, and there is currently one day of teaching available for each role.
This year, we have three string pupils in the National Children's Orchestra, and our string staff run a String Quartet, a Lower Strings group, and a String Orchestra (which expands to become a Full Orchestra for major concerts).
String teaching is offered from Year 2 upwards, with a 30-minute lesson per pupil each week, and the ideal candidates will be equally enthusiastic about inspiring beginners and stretching our most advanced players.
CCCS is a choir school, educating Cathedral choristers as well as the choristers of Worcester and Pembroke Colleges, so music is at the heart of school life, with many boys going on to win musical awards at senior schools.
We seek two enthusiastic and adaptable members of staff who would enjoy playing an integral role in the Music Department and kindling an enthusiasm for string playing throughout the school. Both roles are part-time, permanent positions (PAYE), starting in September 2026. Candidates must have an established right to work in the UK, as well as fluent English.
