Bedales School is seeking an inspiring and well-qualified Teacher of Product Design to join its thriving Design Department. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and innovative curriculum, particularly through the school’s Bedales Assessed Courses (BACs), which blend academic rigor with creative freedom to prepare students for further education.
The successful candidate will have the chance to work within a well-resourced and highly regarded Design Department, teaching across disciplines such as Product & Furniture Design, Jewellery, and Fashion. This position is ideal for an ECT, an aspiring trainee teacher, or an early-career educator eager to develop their skills in a supportive and creative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and high-quality lessons in Product Design.
- Inspire students with a passion for creativity and innovation.
- Support students in their designing and making skills, encouraging independent thought and problem-solving.
- Contribute to the ongoing success and development of the Product Design BAC and 3D Design A-Level.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the curriculum and student experience.
- Play an active role in co-curricular activities and the wider school community.
- Uphold the school’s ethos of educating the "head, hand, and heart" through a balance of academic, practical, and personal development.
Requirements:
- A strong degree in Product Design or a related field.
- Passion for teaching and inspiring creativity in young people.
- Excellent design and making skills with a keen interest in design beyond the classroom.
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
- Enthusiastic and proactive in engaging with school life beyond teaching.
- Willingness to work in a boarding school environment, supporting students both academically and pastorally.
