Tool Machinist

 

Description:

Azenta Life Sciences, a global leader in life sciences solutions, is seeking a Tool Machinist to join its Wotton facility. The role is focused on supporting the production department by ensuring timely servicing, cleaning, repair, and maintenance of injection moulding tools, while maintaining high standards of workmanship and attention to detail. This is a hands-on role within the toolroom, requiring strong technical skills and a collaborative mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily servicing and cleaning of mould tools in the toolroom or production areas.

  • Carry out repairs, modifications, and servicing of injection moulding tools and related tooling.

  • Document service and repair activities electronically, including photographs of identified issues.

  • Support production by conducting tool servicing and repairs in the clean room environment when required.

  • Perform cleaning, maintenance, and servicing on other toolroom and production equipment as needed.

  • Assist in equipment repairs and breakdowns to minimize production downtime.

  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized working environment in compliance with health and safety standards.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Strong background in mechanical assembly/disassembly and basic wiring.

  • Skilled in operating manual and CNC machine tools such as Surface Grinder, CNC, VMC, Milling, and Centre Lathe.

  • C&G / NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Completion of a toolmaker or mechanical engineering apprenticeship; injection moulding tool experience preferred but not essential.

  • Desirable experience in high-precision injection tooling, polishing, finishing, hot runner systems, and multi-cavity tooling.

  • Ability to read and interpret 2D component and wiring drawings.

  • Competent in core computer applications including email, Excel, and Word.
