Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI), a strategic and trusted insurance partner, is looking for an Underwriter to join their Energy & Technical Property team in London. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and underwriting opportunities for operational power risks and playing a key role in growing the Power portfolio.

The role involves analyzing risk exposures for new and renewal business, making sound underwriting decisions, and driving a profitable portfolio of operational power risks. Strong relationship-building skills will be essential as the role requires close collaboration with brokers, customers, and internal BHSI teams. This position also offers an exciting opportunity to work within an experienced and globally recognized insurance company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the development of International Property consistent with profitable growth objectives.

• Establish, develop, and expand relationships with brokers and customers.

• Underwrite accounts with careful analysis and documentation while maintaining discipline, diligence, and quality service.

• Underwrite challenging risks and develop creative solutions for brokers and customers.

• Monitor the competitive environment and risk profile of the International Property market.

• Effectively communicate BHSI's value proposition to clients.

• Serve as a positive representative of BHSI, demonstrating integrity and leadership in the marketplace.

Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

• 5+ years of Operational Power Underwriting experience.

• Strong understanding of risk deployment, Natural Catastrophe risk, and profitability.

• Proficiency in policy forms, broker manuscripts, coverage intent, structure, and claims response.

• Excellent collaboration and team-building skills.

• Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation experience, including customer meetings.

• Degree or equivalent education, and/or relevant insurance qualifications.

• Willingness to travel.
