Description:

Allan Webb, a long-standing leader in engineering consultancy with over six decades of experience, is seeking an accomplished Commercial Manager to join its team in Stonehouse, England. This role offers a strategic position with the opportunity to significantly influence commercial activities across the organisation.

Reporting directly to the Business Development and Commercial Director, the Commercial Manager will work in tandem with operational and support teams to drive commercial strategy, ensure contract excellence, and implement best practices that support business growth and sustainability. The ideal candidate will possess strong commercial acumen, a proactive mindset, and the ability to foster high-value relationships with clients and partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of commercial strategies across business units

  • Manage and negotiate contracts from proposal stage to successful delivery

  • Cultivate and manage relationships with key customers and suppliers

  • Ensure adherence to governance standards and risk management protocols

  • Champion efficient and value-focused commercial solutions for asset optimisation

  • Contribute to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable business strategies

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to support growth objectives

  • Drive improvements in commercial processes and decision-making

  • Promote inclusive practices aligned with EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion) initiatives


Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Commerce, or related field

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated experience in commercial roles within sectors such as defence, energy, government, or pharmaceuticals

  • Sound knowledge of procurement and bid lifecycle management

  • MCIPS qualification or equivalent is a plus

  • Ability to travel as required by business needs
