Compliance Officer

Description:

Markel International is seeking a proactive Compliance Officer to join their International Division Compliance function, focusing on financial crime oversight and sanctions compliance. This role is based in London and allows for hybrid working, providing the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on Markel’s global insurance operations outside the U.S.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), sanctions, and Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) screening

• Monitor activity and exception reports, addressing sanctions issues as they arise

• Act as a sanctions adviser, providing clear, accurate, and practical guidance to the business

• Analyse regulatory developments in financial crime, identifying business impacts and providing technical insights

• Contribute to the annual financial crime and sanctions risk assessment and related action plans

• Ensure company policies align with prevailing regulatory requirements

• Support data gathering and reporting to management, regulators, and auditors

• Assist in preparing presentations and papers with relevant MI, data, and supplementary content
