Job Title: Contingency Underwriter – Lloyd’s Syndicate

Location: London, United Kingdom (Hybrid Working Available)

Salary: £95,000 + Bonus + Benefits

Type: Permanent, Full-Time

The Role:

Reporting to the Head of Specialty, you will take ownership of underwriting a diverse portfolio of contingency risks, including but not limited to: event cancellation, non-appearance, prize indemnity, and other tailored special event covers. You’ll work within delegated underwriting authority, contributing to underwriting strategy, pricing, and risk appetite, while building strong broker and client relationships across international markets.

Key Responsibilities:

- Underwrite new and renewal contingency business in accordance with underwriting guidelines and Lloyd’s standards.

- Conduct in-depth risk assessments and develop bespoke insurance solutions.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.

- Monitor portfolio performance and contribute to pricing, product development, and underwriting strategy.

- Stay informed on market trends and emerging risks in the contingency sector.
