Head Of Tax Administration

Description:

HM Treasury is looking for a Head of Tax Administration Modernisation and Reform to join the Tax Administration, Spending and Reform (TASR) team. TASR supports HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) in delivering government priorities including tax revenue raising, simplifying the tax system, and tackling tax avoidance and evasion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead government policy and strategy development to modernise and improve the tax administration system.

• Lead Treasury’s involvement in HMRC’s flagship “Making Tax Digital” programme.

• Oversee Treasury scrutiny and control of HMRC’s tax administration and maintenance spending.

• Serve as a tax administration expert advising Treasury tax colleagues to ensure alignment with government ambitions for a simpler, easier tax system.

• Contribute positively to the wider culture and operation of the TASR team.

Candidate Profile:

• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate ideas clearly both in writing and verbally.

• Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders at all levels, building positive relationships and delivering results collaboratively.

• Capable of working independently, managing complex programmes, securing senior stakeholder engagement, and balancing long-term strategic objectives with shorter-term demands.

• Understands broader context and government objectives, and communicates them effectively to colleagues.
