Lay Missional Formation Officer

Description:

The Diocese of Exeter is seeking a dynamic and visionary Lay Missional Formation Officer to empower lay disciples and promote missional transformation across the region. This pivotal role focuses on inspiring and equipping missionary disciples, enhancing vocational confidence, and reframing current lay leadership for mission through life-long learning initiatives.

As part of the Diocese's strategy to develop missional leadership, missional DNA, vocations, engagement with children and families, and a mixed ecology of church, this role will play a central part in creating outward-looking, invitational, and hospitable church communities actively engaged with their wider society.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspire and equip missionary disciples, stimulating vocational confidence among lay leaders.

• Design and deliver effective training programs to develop missional leadership skills.

• Encourage diversity in missionally focused lay leadership roles.

• Reframe and support current lay leadership through continuous learning opportunities.

• Collaborate with church leaders and community stakeholders to promote missional growth and engagement.

• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and hospitality within church communities.

Required Skills & Attributes:

• Strong passion for mission, evangelism, and church growth.

• Proven ability to encourage, equip, and enable the gifts and skills of others.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

• Experience in designing and implementing effective training programs.

• Entrepreneurial mindset with a collaborative approach to ministry.

• Wide-ranging experience in church leadership (lay or ordained).
