Maintenance Engineer

Yolk Recruitment Ltd is hiring a Maintenance Engineer (Site Engineer) for a globally recognized packaging leader at their Highbridge facility. This position is ideal for newly qualified mechanical engineers or seasoned professionals looking for a more autonomous role with better work-life balance.

In this days-only position, you’ll be the primary engineering presence on site, leading all maintenance activities and overseeing machinery, facilities, contractors, and small projects. The role offers high levels of independence and ownership within a supportive, stable, and investment-backed environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead all on-site maintenance operations including planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and emergency breakdowns

• Develop and execute efficient maintenance schedules to minimize downtime

• Oversee minor engineering projects, equipment upgrades, and planning for future investment

• Manage and optimize engineering stock and stores

• Coordinate external contractors for repairs, servicing, and installations

• Participate in the on-call rota to ensure round-the-clock coverage when needed

Key Requirements:

• A mechanical engineering qualification is essential

• Ability to perform basic electrical fault finding

• Prior experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance, either as an apprentice or time-served engineer

• Good communication, organizational, and reporting skills

• Basic computer literacy for writing reports and managing maintenance records

• Capable of working independently with a proactive, hands-on approach
