Mid Market Senior Underwriter

Description:

Aviva is looking for a Senior Mid Market Trading Underwriter to join its team in Bristol, UK. This role is ideal for professionals with a background in broking or underwriting who are eager to advance their careers. The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing brokers, underwriting new business, renewals, and mid-term adjustments (MTAs) while also handling more complex cases and referrals.

This position requires frequent broker visits across the South West, so flexibility with travel is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Underwrite and manage a commercial book of business within agreed guidelines and authority levels.

• Develop strong relationships with brokers and customers, ensuring Aviva is their insurer of choice.

• Handle complex underwriting cases and referrals while reviewing team/book performance.

• Work collaboratively within the organization, linking with leadership on strategy and business growth.

• Stay informed about Aviva’s regional SME & Mid Market trading strategy and apply it effectively.

• Engage in continuous learning and development through Aviva’s training programs.

Key Requirements:

• Experience: Strong background in property & liability and/or fleet underwriting is essential.

• Technical Knowledge:

  • Ability to assess risks and communicate underwriting decisions to brokers and customers.

  • Familiarity with FCA regulations and relevant legislation.

  • Strong commercial acumen to create and execute business strategies.

• Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to work effectively within a large and complex organization.

  • Curiosity and eagerness to expand expertise across different trade sectors.
