Packaging and Ingredients Buyer

Description:

The Packaging and Ingredients Buyer will be responsible for/ but not limited to:

• Source and purchase packaging materials in line with company requirements.

• Negotiate prices, contracts, and delivery terms with suppliers.

• Evaluate supplier performance on quality, delivery, and cost.

• Work closely with production, warehouse, and quality teams to understand packaging needs.

• Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative packaging solutions.

• Ensure purchased materials meet company quality and compliance standards.

• Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier documentation.

• Resolve supplier issues, including quality concerns and delivery delays.

• Track market trends and pricing changes for packaging materials.

The successful Packaging and Ingredients Buyer will have the following skills & competencies:

• Experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain

• Knowledge of packaging materials and supplier management.

• Strong negotiation and communication skills.

• Excellent organizational and analytical abilities.

• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

• A minimum of +2 years relevant ingredient and packaging buying experience.

• Education: Minimum of GCSE

• A relevant qualification is advantageous E.g. CIPS, a Business/ Supply Chain Degree.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP (Syspro)/purchasing systems.

• Work authorisation: Existing UK work authorisation is required/ Please note we do not hold a sponsorship licence thus there is no visa sponsorship available for this role
