Production Manager

Description:

Peikko UK, a global leader in Slim Floor Structures (DELTABEAM®) and Connection Technology, is seeking a Production Manager to lead their expanding manufacturing facility in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham. This is a key leadership role with the opportunity to shape production processes and play a vital part in the scaling phase of the business. The position holds significant growth potential, including the possibility of overseeing the establishment of a new facility in the future.

As Production Manager, you will be responsible for leading the efficient, safe, and cost-effective operation of the site, including overseeing production planning, resources, quality assurance, and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards. You will drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure that production meets customer orders on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities include optimizing resources (personnel, equipment, materials), enforcing quality and safety standards, leading and developing the production team, managing departmental budgets, and overseeing equipment maintenance. The role also requires effective collaboration with departments such as Sales, Procurement, and Engineering.

Who We're Looking For:

• Essential:

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within manufacturing/engineering (metal fabrication or construction supply chain preferred)

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, quality control, and HSE regulations

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and develop production teams effectively

  • Experience in implementing continuous improvement initiatives

  • Budget management and cost control experience

  • Proficiency with manufacturing IT systems (ERP)

  • Excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Resilient, results-driven, and able to work under pressure

• Beneficial/Desirable:

  • Knowledge of welding technology and relevant standards (e.g., IWE, IWT, IWS)

  • Experience with construction market standards (EN1090-1/EN1090-2, UKCA marking)

  • Experience in Health & Safety management with certifications (e.g., IOSH)

  • Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing/Operations Management, or a related field

  • Experience in a manufacturing start-up or scaling environment
