Quantity Surveyor

Description:

Mott MacDonald, a global engineering, management, and development consultancy, is seeking experienced Quantity Surveyors to join its expanding Environment and Water portfolio across multiple UK locations. This role provides an excellent opportunity to work on some of the UK’s most challenging infrastructure projects while delivering essential services that improve environmental sustainability and benefit communities.

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in supporting large capital programmes for water companies, providing commercial expertise throughout the project lifecycle. Responsibilities include preparing cost plans, estimates, valuations, and financial statements, managing commercial queries, negotiating final accounts, and ensuring contractual obligations are fulfilled in collaboration with project managers, consultants, and contractors.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting large-scale water and infrastructure projects across various UK regions.

• Providing commercial and contract management support using NEC and similar contract frameworks.

• Monitoring contractor and consultant submissions, conducting due diligence, and assessing payments.

• Preparing estimates, cost plans, and standard project documentation.

• Negotiating final accounts and supporting ongoing commercial assessments.

• Attending progress meetings and responding to commercial matters.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying and have substantial experience working with NEC contracts, cost consultancy, or main contractor environments. Strong pre- and post-contract expertise, collaborative working skills, and a willingness to travel with potential overnight stays are required.
