Relationship Director

Description:

HSBC is looking for a talented and experienced Relationship Director to join its Corporate Banking team in the UK, with a focus on clients in the Oxford market. This is a hybrid role based in Reading, with regular travel required across the region to engage with clients. The role is ideal for a customer-focused and commercially driven professional looking to work with a diverse portfolio of clients with turnovers ranging between £15 million and £350 million.

The Relationship Director will take ownership of a broad portfolio, including domestic and international clients, managing all aspects of their relationships. Your mission will be to offer tailored banking solutions, mitigate credit and operational risks, and become a key figure in Oxford’s local business ecosystem. You’ll inherit and grow an established network of clients and stakeholders, while working closely with internal partners such as the Innovation Bank to deliver comprehensive solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as a local ambassador for HSBC within the Oxford business community

• Deliver high-level customer service and maintain excellent client satisfaction

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities while nurturing existing relationships

• Develop a wide network of introducers in the local professional ecosystem

• Manage operational, reputational, credit, and financial crime risks in line with HSBC policies

• Collaborate across teams to tailor banking products to both international and domestic clients

Key Requirements:

• Corporate or Business Banking experience is essential

• Proven success in managing complex relationships and credit risk

• Ability to identify financial needs and apply suitable banking solutions

• Strong internal and external stakeholder management skills

• Ability to handle conflicting priorities and deliver results under pressure

• Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills

• Local market knowledge (Oxford region) is preferred

• Must live within a commutable distance to Reading and surrounding region
