Description:

HSBC is seeking a highly driven and commercially astute Equipment Finance Relationship Director to join its Middle Market Enterprises (MME) and Business Banking (BB) division. This is a hybrid role based in Edinburgh, with frequent travel across Scotland. The successful candidate will be responsible for originating, structuring, and closing high-value asset finance deals, offering customized funding solutions through leasing and hire purchase products.

As part of HSBC’s strategic field-based Equipment Finance (EF) team, you will manage a diverse portfolio, engage face-to-face with clients, and work closely with internal stakeholders to deliver tailored financial solutions. The role combines strong business development skills with deep understanding of commercial lending and relationship management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive new client acquisition and generate high-value income opportunities through effective sales strategies

  • Develop and implement a strategic calling plan to achieve income and growth objectives

  • Maintain and grow a portfolio of existing facility customers by offering tailored hire purchase and leasing solutions

  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers (RMs) and broader HSBC network to deliver exceptional service and structure optimal funding deals

  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team culture

  • Ensure adherence to HSBC’s compliance standards, including documentation accuracy and internal/external audit requirements

  • Leverage knowledge of credit products and risks to support well-informed, customer-centric lending decisions

Requirements:

  • Solid background in commercial banking with a strong understanding of equipment finance products

  • Proven experience working towards and exceeding sales targets

  • Demonstrated expertise in relationship management and client portfolio development

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and articulate complex financial information effectively

  • Strong knowledge of credit processes, lending risks, and structuring deals to meet client needs

  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Scotland regularly

Additional Details:

  • This is a Hybrid Role, combining remote work and regular office presence

  • The base location is Edinburgh, but regional travel is essential
