Description:

Markel International is seeking an experienced Insurance Underwriter to join its Structured Portfolio Solutions division. This role involves underwriting multi-line, cross-class facilities in the London wholesale market, optimizing portfolio performance through data insights, and ensuring effective risk management and profitable returns.

The successful candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, a deep understanding of underwriting processes, and the ability to interpret complex data while collaborating with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Underwrite and manage multi-line, cross-class facilities within the London wholesale market.
• Leverage data insights to optimize portfolio performance and enhance underwriting returns.
• Build and maintain relationships with brokers and participate in marketing initiatives.
• Develop business plans and contribute to product development strategies.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and adapt underwriting strategies based on market trends.
• Coach and manage junior underwriters within the team.
• Prepare and present portfolio performance reports to senior management.

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Experience in the London wholesale market with a focus on portfolio underwriting.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex underwriting data.
• Technical knowledge in various insurance lines including Casualty, Trade Credit, Marine, Energy Liability, and more.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., ACII, Chartered Insurer) preferred.
