Sustainability Consultant

Description:

Hoare Lea, a leading human-centric and planet-conscious engineering consultancy, is seeking a passionate and driven Sustainability Consultant or Senior Sustainability Consultant to join its Sustainability Group. This group provides innovative, sustainable solutions to complex design challenges within the built environment and operates across multiple UK locations, including Birmingham, Cambridge, and Oxford.

You will have the opportunity to lead and support sustainability assessments, develop holistic strategies, and work on pioneering initiatives to promote sustainable development across diverse projects and sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver holistic sustainability strategies for a wide range of projects.

• Lead environmental and wellbeing assessments such as BREEAM, WELL, and HQM from concept to post-construction stages.

• Conduct embodied carbon calculations, circular economy consultancy, operational energy estimates, and overheating analyses.

• Collaborate with clients to implement energy and sustainability strategies for new and existing developments.

• Mentor and support junior team members in project delivery, consultancy, and planning.

• Engage in research and development initiatives through the Technical Excellence programme, contributing to industry guidance and knowledge.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Degree in engineering, science, or a related field.

• Experience in sustainability or engineering consultancy within the built environment.

• Expertise in energy performance modelling (IES VE), whole life carbon assessments (OneClick or equivalent), and net zero carbon strategies.

• Strong communication skills with an enthusiasm for collaborative, team-oriented work.

• Passion for sustainability and continuous professional development.
