Description:
RSPCA is seeking a Veterinary Nurse to join their team at the Birmingham Animal Hospital on a 9-month fixed-term contract. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the hospital, providing emergency and critical care nursing, as well as medical and surgical patient care. The hospital is well-equipped, spacious, and located in a rural setting with excellent access to Birmingham.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide emergency and critical care nursing, including primary triage.
- Carry out medical and surgical patient care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records.
- Dispense drugs in accordance with professional guidelines and clinic rules.
- Ensure high levels of clinical hygiene and biosecurity.
- Monitor anaesthesia and provide perioperative nursing care in a busy operating theatre.
- Undertake professional and personal development.
- Provide welfare and case work support.
Requirements:
- Must be a Registered Veterinary Nurse with current registration with the RCVS.
- Proven experience in a relevant discipline (veterinary practice, wildlife rehabilitation, animal centre, or similar).
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to assess and make evidence-based clinical decisions.
- Capability to work autonomously and in teams.
- Excellent organizational skills and prioritization.
- Strong problem-solving skills and initiative.
Additional Information:
- Working hours: 35 hours per week on a shift basis (day shifts, evening shifts, and night shifts once every 10 weeks).
- Night shift allowance of 33% of the basic hourly rate.
- Candidates will need to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
