Senior Building Control Inspector

Capita Local Public Services is seeking a Senior Building Control Inspector to join its nationally distributed Building Control team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that a diverse range of commercial and domestic construction projects—such as hospitals, schools, and residential developments—are safe, sustainable, and compliant with building regulations. You will be deeply involved throughout the construction lifecycle, helping shape environments that people depend on every day.

As a senior surveyor, you will deliver core Building Control functions, support external contracts, and help grow Capita’s Building Control service offerings. Your expertise will help ensure health, safety, and compliance while influencing better outcomes in the built environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform all aspects of Building Control services including plan checking, site inspections, and pre-application consultations.

• Work on external contracts and contribute to growth and resilience initiatives.

• Make critical decisions on building work applications, statutory notices, and safety compliance under the Building Act and Regulations.

• Foster collaboration with partner agencies, authorities, and stakeholders.

• Actively promote Capita’s Building Control and specialist consultancy services to potential clients.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in a local authority Building Control department or equivalent body.

• In-depth understanding of Building Control legislation, application procedures, and upcoming regulatory changes.

• Familiarity with Building Control software and systems.

• Strong practical problem-solving skills and a client-centric approach.

• Ability to adhere to quality management systems and performance standards in Building Control.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service capabilities.
