Description:

Appleyard & Trew LLP, a well-established private practice of Chartered Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers, is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor & Employer’s Agent to join their busy Leeds office. The firm is active across multiple sectors, including industrial, leisure, healthcare, education, residential (both social and developer-led), office fit-out, and listed building/conservation projects. Their services range from traditional quantity surveying through to acting as Employer’s Agent and Project Manager.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, client-focused services while contributing to the growth and reputation of the practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to join a collaborative team that values innovation, technical expertise, and strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering feasibility studies, cost estimates, and bills of quantities.

  • Preparing schedules of works, valuations, and final accounts.

  • Managing JCT and NEC contracts.

  • Producing tender documentation, assessing returns, and preparing reports.

  • Running both small (<£1m) and large multi-million-pound projects.

  • Leading risk management and value management activities.

  • Acting as primary client contact, ensuring timely and high-quality service delivery.

  • Maintaining and developing strong client relationships to generate business opportunities.

  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and CDM regulations.

  • Managing multiple projects concurrently, prioritising effectively.

  • Attending site visits across the North of England, Midlands, and occasionally further afield.

Requirements:

  • Degree in a relevant discipline.

  • MRICS qualification (essential).

  • Experience with a PQS firm.

  • Strong technical and commercial knowledge across the construction lifecycle.

  • Excellent project management, problem-solving, and client-facing skills.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Full eligibility to live and work in the UK.
