Description:
Appleyard & Trew LLP, a well-established private practice of Chartered Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers, is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor & Employer’s Agent to join their busy Leeds office. The firm is active across multiple sectors, including industrial, leisure, healthcare, education, residential (both social and developer-led), office fit-out, and listed building/conservation projects. Their services range from traditional quantity surveying through to acting as Employer’s Agent and Project Manager.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, client-focused services while contributing to the growth and reputation of the practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to join a collaborative team that values innovation, technical expertise, and strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Delivering feasibility studies, cost estimates, and bills of quantities.
Preparing schedules of works, valuations, and final accounts.
Managing JCT and NEC contracts.
Producing tender documentation, assessing returns, and preparing reports.
Running both small (<£1m) and large multi-million-pound projects.
Leading risk management and value management activities.
Acting as primary client contact, ensuring timely and high-quality service delivery.
Maintaining and developing strong client relationships to generate business opportunities.
Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and CDM regulations.
Managing multiple projects concurrently, prioritising effectively.
Attending site visits across the North of England, Midlands, and occasionally further afield.
Requirements:
Degree in a relevant discipline.
MRICS qualification (essential).
Experience with a PQS firm.
Strong technical and commercial knowledge across the construction lifecycle.
Excellent project management, problem-solving, and client-facing skills.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
