Settlements Associate

 

Description:

Marcus Donald People are representing a leading global financial institution seeking a talented Settlements Associate to join its Global Equity Finance team. This position will play a pivotal role in collateral management and trade settlement operations across multiple asset classes, including Equities, ADRs, ETFs, FX, and Swaps.

This is a 12-month contract role (inside IR35) with a strong likelihood of extension or transition to permanent employment. The position requires a detail-oriented professional with solid product knowledge, operational expertise, and a strong grasp of settlement processes in a global banking environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily collateral obligations to ensure compliance with risk and exposure parameters.

  • Monitor and resolve stock and cash reconciliation issues on a daily basis.

  • Handle trade matching, settlement, and fails processes efficiently.

  • Liaise with trading desks, clients, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth trade settlement and collateral flows.

  • Maximise settlement efficiency and reduce operational risk exposure.

  • Ensure compliance with regulations impacting settlements, including CASS and CSDR.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and controls across settlement workflows.

Candidate Profile / Requirements:

  • Proven experience in settlements, collateral management, and equity finance transactions.

  • Strong product knowledge in Equities, ADRs, ETFs, FX & Swaps, and repos.

  • Familiarity with Crest and international markets including Europe, Spain, South Africa, Canada, U.S., and Asia-Pacific.

  • Knowledge of triparty collateral management and stock borrowing.

  • Technical system knowledge desirable: Gloss, Global One, NEOLINK, HSBC cash, CITIBANK, CREST.

  • Understanding of payment systems (SWIFT network and account funding) is an advantage.

  • Strong knowledge of regulations including CASS and CSDR.

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a numerate discipline.

  • Excellent communication skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels, including sales desks and counterparties.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
